    Resizing Images for Social Media

Learn how to resize images for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and more using the free AdFlex Image Resizer: 12 social presets, aspect-ratio lock, fit modes, and batch resizing.

Resize Any Image for Any Platform

Every social network wants a different image size, and posting the wrong dimensions leads to awkward cropping or blurry results. The free AdFlex Image Resizer fixes this in a few clicks. It runs entirely in your browser, so your images stay private and never get uploaded, and it covers the exact sizes the major platforms expect.

You can resize to precise pixel dimensions, scale by percentage, or pick from 12 built-in social media presets: Instagram Post and Story, Facebook Post and Cover, X Post and Header, TikTok, YouTube Thumbnail, Pinterest, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Snapchat. This guide walks through the full flow.

    Step 1: Upload Your Image

Open the Image Resizer and add your image by dragging it onto the page or clicking to browse your files. Because everything happens locally in your browser, the upload is instant and your file never leaves your device. You will see a live preview of the image you are about to resize.

Step 2: Pick a Preset or Custom Dimensions

Now choose your target size. You have two routes:

    • Use a social preset: Select one of the 12 presets (for example, Instagram Story or YouTube Thumbnail) and the correct dimensions are filled in for you. This is the fastest, most reliable option.
    • Set custom dimensions: Enter an exact width and height in pixels, or resize by percentage to scale the image up or down proportionally.

To keep your image from looking stretched, turn on aspect-ratio lock. You can lock to the image's original ratio or choose from seven preset ratios so width and height stay in proportion as you adjust them. There is also a "don't enlarge" option that prevents a small image from being scaled up past its native size, which avoids blurriness.

Step 3: Choose a Fit Mode

When your target size has a different shape than your original, the fit mode decides how the image fills the new frame. There are four modes:

    • Stretch: Forces the image to the exact dimensions, which can distort it.
    • Fit with padding: Keeps the whole image visible and adds padding around it. You can set the pad color to white, black, transparent, or a blurred version of the image.
    • Cover: Fills the entire frame, scaling the image so there are no empty edges.
    • Crop: Trims the image to fit the frame exactly.

For most social posts, "cover" or "crop" gives an edge-to-edge result, while "fit with padding" is useful when you cannot afford to lose any part of the image.

    Step 4: Download

Once the preview looks right, click download to save the resized image to your device. If you uploaded several images, you can resize them all in one batch and download them together as a single ZIP file. That makes it easy to prepare one design for every platform at once.

    Tips for Better Results

    • Start from the highest-resolution original you have, then resize down: the result is always sharper than scaling a small image up.
    • Use aspect-ratio lock to avoid the stretched, distorted look that comes from free-form resizing.
    • For logos or graphics with transparency, use the transparent pad color so the background stays clean.
    • If you are creating a polished ad rather than resizing a finished image, design it at the right size in the editor instead: see Exporting & Saving Designs.

    Common Questions

What is the best fit mode for an Instagram post?

For a square Instagram post, "cover" or "crop" fills the frame edge-to-edge with no padding. If keeping the entire image visible matters more than filling the frame, choose "fit with padding" and pick a pad color that matches your design.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. The Image Resizer supports batch processing. Upload multiple images, apply your settings, and download them all together as a ZIP file.

Will resizing make my image blurry?

Scaling a small image up can soften it. To prevent this, enable the "don't enlarge" option so images are never scaled beyond their native size, and always start from the largest original available.

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The Image Resizer works 100% in your browser. Your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server. After resizing, you may also want to shrink the file size: see Compressing & Converting Images.
